What is StormReady™?
StormReady™ is OC Tasker's flood protection rental service. We deliver and install temporary water-filled flood barriers or sandbags at your doors, garage or storefront, rent them by the week, and pick them up when you're done.
How much does flood barrier rental cost?
Barrier packages start at $299 placement plus $39 per week and a $149 retrieval fee for a single entry up to 10 ft. A standard garage up to 25 ft starts at $399 placement and $69 per week. Use the estimator for your exact preliminary estimate.
How much does sandbag installation cost?
Sandbag packages start at $349 placement, $29 per week and $149 retrieval for up to 15 bags. A typical 16 ft garage needs about 24 bags (Standard package, up to 30 bags) at $499 placement, $49 per week and $199 retrieval.
How is the rental period billed?
Rentals are billed by the week. Billable weeks are your rental days divided by 7, rounded up — so 7 days is 1 week and 10 days is 2 weeks.
Should I choose water-filled barriers or sandbags?
Barriers are cleaner and faster on flat, accessible surfaces with an outdoor faucet nearby. Sandbags work better on slopes, uneven ground and irregular openings. If you're not sure, choose "Not sure" and we'll recommend one.
How many sandbags do I need?
We lay 20″ bags end to end, two layers high, plus a 20% reserve. For example, a 16 ft opening needs 20 bags plus 4 reserve — 24 bags in total.
Is the online estimate final?
No. The estimate is preliminary and subject to site verification. Your final quote is confirmed after we review your photos and assess the site.
Will this guarantee my home won't flood?
No. Temporary barriers and sandbags reduce the risk of water entering at the protected openings, but no temporary product can guarantee flood prevention. Severe flooding, rising groundwater or water entering elsewhere may still cause damage.
What is Manual Assessment Required?
Some sites need a technician's eyes first — openings over 50 ft, several separate areas for barriers, slopes, standing water, difficult access, or no outdoor faucet. You can still submit your request and we'll follow up with a custom quote.
Do I need to be home for installation or pickup?
Not always. We need safe access to the areas being protected and, for water barriers, a working outdoor faucet. We'll coordinate details when we confirm your appointment.
Which areas do you serve?
Newport Beach, Newport Coast, Corona del Mar, Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach, Irvine and Fountain Valley. Nearby addresses can still request an estimate and we'll review them.
How far in advance should I book?
As early as possible. Requests spike when storms are forecast, so booking before the rainy season gives you the best chance at your preferred placement date.
Can businesses rent StormReady™ protection?
Yes. We protect storefronts, restaurant entries and commercial doors. Choose "Commercial storefront" in the estimator.
Do I pay anything when I submit the estimator?
No. Submitting the estimator is free, makes no charge and does not confirm an appointment. We'll contact you to review and confirm.
What happens to my photos?
Your photos are stored privately and are only viewed by OC Tasker staff to plan your protection. They are never published without your permission.
